Jogging Bottoms & Drawstrings

Ahead of 6yo's first big expedition with Beavers, where he's going to be taking part in plenty of "big boy activities", I've been lumbered with the task of hunting out tracksuit bottoms that actually fit....
 "Easy", one might say...
"I disagree" would be the response from me....
6yo, while healthy and hungry (most of the time), has a little problem.  His legs are too long for his waist.  His legs, while vaguely resembling 2 pieces of cotton, are just the length they should be for his age.  His waist, on the other hand, can fit into his 2 year old sister's clothes (not that we've tried this out mind).  Ssshhh!!!!
I shop specifically for trousers that have adjustable waists.. I particularly like Next clothes because they also have "slim fit" and "plus fit".... And, the "slim fit" fit him well!  Every item of waist, bum and leg wear 6yo has, includes an adjustable waist.

Unfortunately, needing an adjustable waist causes a problem when searching for tracksuit bottoms.  Today, I traipsed 2yo through Adsa, Next, Boots, Peacocks, Sports Direct and Tesco, looking for tracksuit bottoms with a REAL drawstring.
Why oh why do children's clothing designers feel the need to put "ornamental" draw strings on their jogging bottoms?  It's simply cruel, dashing my hopes time and time again.  Not one of the shops have a solitary pair of jogging bottoms with a REAL drawstring.
In the end I went for trackies from Sports Direct and have spent most of the evening 'doctoring' them to fit 6yo.

On the plus side, we now have everything we need for the Beaver Camp!!! :D
